The Meeteetse Museums is bringing the “Bison of the Bighorn Basin” project to the Homesteader Museum in Powell on November 14th from 10 am – 3 pm. Bring your bison crania into the Homesteader during these hours to get it measured. You leave with your bison crania after it is measured and photographed. Though the process does not take long, it is first come first serve and there will likely be a wait.
Through this study, the Meeteetse Museums hopes to gain a better understanding of bison in the area and how they compare nationally. By measuring the bison crania we can learn about the bison’s age, size, and sex. The Museum will be able to provide all the information we learn about each crania at the end of the study.
